We shall overcome!

In every land people are beginning to speak out and even act to oppose militarism, nationalism, plundering and polluting of the environment, concentrations of wealth and power.

Millions in war-torn lands are weary of massacres, destruction, tyrannies, and all the miseries associated with militarism. They are ready to welcome what appears to them to be a solution.

Housman's Peace Diary lists over 3,000 groups in 150 nations who are more caring for peace, human rights, wildlife conservation and diversity, the environment, filling human needs than for acquiring wealth, privilege, and power.

A powerful global movement could be built if these people, or a large percentage, were to unite on a common vision, an inspiring, yet realistic goal. They would have to find common ground on the basic principles and means to attain their goal.

Unfortunately, these groups are less effective than they could be in attaining their individual limited goals.

Their weakness stems from these causes:
1. They are divided.
2. Organization members to a large extent are little more than financial supporters.
3. The funds they provide are to a large extent used for more fund-raising and lobbying in governmental institutions.
4. Their objectives are usually to counter some particular action, usually a symptom of a more fundamental condition or value system.

Most important, however, is the fact that these are CARING people. They express caring for their fellow-humans and the environment more than their concern for acquiring money, wealth, privilege, and power. They are the van of a GLOBAL CARING NEW WORLD MOVEMENT.
